DAY 01

Arrival in Luang Prabang

Arrival in Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your guide will pick you up at the airport and then drop you at your hotel. Free time to rest.

Day without a guide

DAY 02

Visit Luang Prabang, its temples and markets

At sunrise, volunteers can attend the traditional ceremony of alms giving to the monks (without guide). Cultural tour of the city by minivan with the guide: morning market, Royal Palace, Vat Mai, Vat Sene, Vat Xiengthong, Vat Visoun. Walk through the historic sector, local markets and shops. Climb up the 328 steps of Mount Phousi to admire the magnificent panorama. Visit of the night market in the main street.

DAY 03

Ancient Temples and Kuang Si Waterfall

Crossing the Mekong by boat to reach the opposite bank of the Mekong facing Luang Prabang where the atmosphere is totally different, far from tourists. Visit of a pottery village and ancient temples Vat Xiengmène, Vat Chomphet and Vat Longkhoun. Then, departure by minivan on a mountain track to reach the impressive Kuang Si waterfalls located in the middle of the jungle. Free afternoon at the waterfalls, swimming, exploring, visiting the bear sanctuary.

DAY 04

Relaxing in the idyllic setting of Nongkhiaw

Departure from Luang Prabang by private minivan on countryside road. Visit of Tay Dam and Khamu ethnic villages. Arrival in Nongkhiaw early in the afternoon, then free time in the heart of these beautiful rocky mountain landscapes crossed by a river. You can relax, enjoy a drink on a terrace along the river, or climb up to the 360 ​​degree viewpoint (2 hours of sport walk round trip).

DAY 05

Immersion in the ethnic villages of the NamOu valley

Traditional wooden boat ride on the NamOu River. Visit of a weaving village and meeting with fishermen. Way down the river to dock at the village of MuangNgoi. Walk in the countryside through rice fields punctuated with karstic mountains. Meeting with the inhabitants of a small village of the Tay Ead ethnic group and discovery of their rural daily life. Way back by boat to Nongkhiaw by the end of the afternoon.

DAY 06

On the way to Pakbeng, small villages and great panoramas

On-road day by minivan to Pakbeng through Oudomxay. This beautiful route passes through breathtaking mountain scenery and authentic Tay Lue, Khamu and Hmong ethnic villages. Arrival in Pakbèng by the end of the day. This small town offers a splendid view on the Mekong, especially at sunset time.

DAY 07

Mekong Cruise and PakOu Caves

Cruising day on the Mekong in a private traditional slow boat. The river is dotted with mountains and large cliffs. Visit of the Pak Ou caves hosting thousands of Buddha statues. You will take the boat back to visit the village of Ban Xang Hai. The locals make rice alcohol that you can taste. Arrival in Luang Prabang by the end of the day.

DAY 08

Flight to Cambodia

Free morning until your transfer to the airport for your flight to Cambodia. Flight to Siem Reap. Accueil à l’aéroport de Siem Reap par votre guide cambodgien francophone. Installation à l’hôtel, situé à proximité du parc archéologique d’Angkor. Petit tour d’orientation de la ville de Siem Reap ou/et détente au bord de la piscine de l’hôtel en fin de journée.

DAY 09

Angkor Wat, a marvel of architecture

First glimpse of the Angkor site at the top of Phnom Bakheng. Then, visit of the famous Angkor Wat temple. A well studied course allows to appreciate in a certain tranquillity this masterpiece which reveals the Khmer architecture at its peak. In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic drive to the small temple of Banteay Srei, and then a cultural walk through the village of Tbeng, where we go from rice fields to gardens and from the village pagoda to its school, spend time to share and talk with the local kids.

DAY 10

The most mysterious temples of Angkor

Early in the morning visit of Ta Prohm temple, discover its trees with their roots embracing the ruins. Crossing of the forest of Angkor to the temple of Ta Nei, wonderfully isolated. In the afternoon, stroll through Angkor Thom and its wooded neighbourhoods to the Royal Palace and its famous Royal Terraces, decorated with parades of elephants. Visit of Bayon temple with its carved exterior galleries. Sunset away from crowded places ...

DAY 11

Tonle Sap Lake & its hilltop villages

Discovery of the surroundings of the Tonle Sap Lake at the Kompong Phluk site with its high-pitched habitat and flooded forest, immersed in the rainy season. It reveals an impressive scenery in the dry season. Crossing of the rice fields along the royal road that passes next to the Beng Mealea temple. In the afternoon, drive to Koh Ker, ephemeral capital of the kingdom in the tenth century, today scattered in a forest with many temples and the largest pyramid of the Khmer country.

DAY 12

Koh Trong island and its freshwater dolphins

Early departure to the banks of the Mekong where the small town of Stung Treng rests. Visit of the morning market, then transfer on a scenic route, dotted with hibiscus and houses with many gables, along the river to the town of Kratie. In the afternoon, stop in Kampi which is the perfect spot to observe the dolphins of Irawady. First discovery of Trong Island at the end of the day.

DAY 13

Peaceful stroll through the cambodian countryside

Tour of the Trong Island. From the fishing village to the Khmer Pagoda of Kbal Koh, it offers lovely walks through rice fields, orchards and gardens. In the afternoon, crossing of Cham tobacco plantations dotted with dryers. The French brought rubber during the last century. Visiting the Chub's latex processing plant is very interesting. Arrival in Phnom Penh by the end of the day.

DAY 14

Visit of the capital Phnom Penh

Discovery of the historical center of the capital: colonial district, gardens of the Royal Palace, famous Silver Pagoda, National Museum, dance school, where you can discover the rehearsals of the dancers who dress the upper terraces of Angkor Wat .. Beyond the Independence Monument on the south side and the Central Market, there are the residential premises, and finally the most popular ones. Stroll in the Russian market, the big bazaar of the city, before your transfer to the airport.
