DAY 01
First ethnic encounters
Departure from Luang Prabang by private minivan on the northern roads to reach the Nongkhiaw area. Visit of ethnic villages (Tay Lue, Tay Dam, Khamu). A mountain trail through millet and rice fields cultivated on mid-mountains offers breathtaking panoramas. Arrival at the Hmong village by the late afternoon. Dinner and stay overnight in the village.

DAY 02
Jungle trek in the Hmong country
The trekking day begins on a mountain trail with crossings of millet fields cultivated by the tribes living in altitude. 3 hours of climbing up to reach a Hmong farm isolated from everything. Epic jungle trek and bamboo forest offering magnificent views on the surrounding mountains and a passage through a rocky chaos. Arrival at a Hmong farmers village. Dinner and stay overnight in the village.

DAY 03
Immersion in the villages and hike in rice fields
Way down the mountain on a small countryside trail to the NamOu River. Traditional wooden boat ride to a small village of weavers. Then way downstream the river to dock in the village named Muang Ngoi. 1h30 walk in the rice fields dotted by karst mountains. Visit of the ThamKang Cave and arrival by late afternoon in a village of the Tay Ead tribe. Dinner and stay overnight in the village.

DAY 04
Traditional boat ride and Laotian countryside
Morning walk in the heart of the Laotian countryside and visit of villages before returning to the traditional boat and go down the NamOu river to reach Nongkhiaw. Free afternoon in this small town located on both banks of the river between two mountains. It is a superb place for chilling and relaxing in a hammock.

DAY 05
On the way to Pakbeng, small villages and great panoramas
Day on road towards Pakbeng through Oudomxay. This route runs through breathtaking mountain landscapes and authentic villages of the Tay Lue, Khamu and Hmong ethnic groups. Arrival in Pakbeng by the end of the day. Settlement in the hotel, then you can relax quietly on the banks of the Mekong river.

DAY 06
Mekong cruise
Day cruising on the Mekong on a private traditional slow boat to Luang Prabang. The river is dotted with mountains, large cliffs, limestone rocks dug by the monsoon rains. On the way, visit of the famous PakOu caves with thousands of Buddha statues. Arrival in Luang Prabang by the end of the afternoon.
