Mountainous landscapes of Oudomxay

Departure by private minivan on a country-side road to northern Laos. The mountain landscapes are breathtaking. Meetings with different ethnic groups such as Tay Lue, Khamu, Tay Dam and Hmong. The guide will bond Western and Asian cultures. Arrival in Oudomxay by late afternoon.

Tay Dam and Tay Lue Craftsmen Minorities

After few hours of discovery, the adventure continues on a dirt track with fabulous landscapes, crossing rice fields with terracotta kilns of the Tay Lue tribe along the way. Stop at a small market of the Tay Dam ethnic group where local people sell the products of their crafts. Visit of tribe villages Phouxang, Akha, Tay Yang, Hmong and Tay Lue. Arrival by late afternoon in Bountai. Dinner and stay overnight in a local house in a Tay Lue village.

Discovery of the Akhas country

The journey continues towards the small town named MuangKhoua where Vietnamese transfer their goods between Vietnam and Laos. Visits of Akha, Hmong, Khamu and TayDam villages in Ban Monesavan. Arrival in MuangKhua by late afternoon and settlement in your guesthouse. Walk in this small town with only few tourists, and crossing of a suspended bridge over the Nam Phak River.

Cruise on the Nam Ou River and rice fields

Morning cruise on the NamOu river in a traditional boat. You can't get enough of these amazing landscapes that make the splendor of Laos: bamboo sheaves, mountains, cliffs, ... Visit of a village of weavers before docking in the village of Muang Ngoi. Easy walk in the heart of rice fields dotted with karst mountains. On the way, visit of the ThamKang Cave. Dinner and stay overnight in a village of the Tay Ead tribe.

Discover the Hmong country

Walk to discover the daily life of the inhabitants and visit of Tay Ead villages. Way back to Muang Ngoi then board on a boat to go down the river. Berthing in the early afternoon, then walk in the countryside on a dirt track used by two villages Hmong and Khamu. One of which is amazing with its houses surrounded by nice and clean grass squares. Dinner and stay overnight in a Hmong Village.

Sanctuary Pak Ou caves

After enjoying the hospitality of a Hmong family, visit of the village before walking on a wide track in the heart of the Laotian countryside heading a small village to meet your minivan. Way back to Luang Prabang and visit of the famous PakOu caves on the Mekong River. They host thousands of Buddha statues adorned with red and gold tones, altered by the weather. Arrival late in the day.
