DAY 01

Arrival in Luang Prabang

Arrival in Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your driver will pick you up at the airport and then drop you at your hotel. Free time to rest.

DAY 02

Luang Prabang by bike, its temples and markets

Cultural tour of the city by bike with the guide: morning market, Royal Palace, Vat Mai, Vat Sene, Vat Xiengthong, Vat Visoun. Walk through the historic sector, local markets and shops. Climb up the 328 steps of Mount Phousi to admire the magnificent panorama. Visit of the night market in the main street.

DAY 03

Mekong Cruise & PakOu Caves

Cruise day on the Mekong in a private traditional slow boat. The river is dotted with large cliffs, limestone rocks in which huge caves have been dug. Visit of the Pak Ou caves hosting thousands of Buddha statues. You will take the boat back to visit the village of Ban Xang Hai. There, local people make alcohol from rice, that parents will have the chance to taste.

DAY 04

Hiking at KuangSi waterfalls

At sunrise, volunteers can attend the traditional ceremony of almsgiving to the monks (without guide). Then, departure by minivan on the mountain tracks to reach and visit a village of the Hmong ethnic group. Hike in the nature for 3h until the springs of the impressive Kuang Si waterfalls located in the middle of the jungle. Afternoon free at the waterfalls, swimming, visit of the bear sanctuary.

DAY 05

Relaxing in the idyllic setting of Nongkhiaw

Departure from Luang Prabang by private minivan through the northern countryside roads. Visit of Tay Dam and Khamu ethnic villages. Arrival in Nongkhiaw in early afternoon, then free time in the heart of beautiful rocky mountains landscapes crossed by a river. You can relax, enjoy a drink on a terrace along the river, or climb up to the 360-​​degree viewpoint (2 hours of sporty walk, way and back).

DAY 06

Mountain, boat trip & rice fields

Boarding on a traditional wooden boat. Cruising on the NamOu River and its exceptional landscapes are unforgettable. Visit of a weaving village and meeting with fishermen. Then, berthing at the small village named Muang Ngoi. Hiking in Lao Loum country through rice paddies dotted with karst mountains. On the way, visit of the ThamKang cave. Evening and stay overnight in a village of the Tay Ead tribe.

Activities : 50mn cruising + 1h30 hiking

DAY 07

Immersion in villages and local meetings

Hike in the countryside through rice paddies and visit of a Tay Ead village. Back to Muang Ngoi to get back on the boat. Berthing in the early afternoon. Walk along the river and then in the deep countryside on a farmer track heading a Hmong village. It is an amazing village with its houses surrounded by green squares clean and neat. Dinner and stay overnight in the village.

Activities : 15mn cruising + 3h hiking

DAY 08

Weaving workshop in a craftsman's village

Discovery of the daily activities in the village. Walk on the wide track in the heart of the Laotian countryside to a small village. Then, transfer to the Tay Lue weaver village named Ban Na Yang. Afternoon textile workshop: cotton processing, dyeing from natural pigments, etc ... Then, walk in the village in the early evening. Stay overnight in the village in a traditional house.

DAY 09

Bamboo weaving workshop with the craftsman

Typical breakfast in the village. Weaving course to learn how cotton is spun then woven. Or choose bamboo weaving lessons to learn traditional techniques and make a small basket. Way back to Luang Prabang by minivan in the afternoon.

DAY 10

Day with Elephants and Tad Sae Waterfalls

Visit of the elephant camp "Elephant village camp", with the company of these huge animals. The mahouts will explain their job and their very particular relationship with the pachyderms. A bareback ride on the back of an elephant. It's a unique experience! The day continues with a small boat ride to reach the beautiful Tad Sae waterfalls with turquoise water (from August to the end of December). Free time to swim and relax.

Activities : 30mn of elephant riding + 10mn cruising

DAY 11

Laotian cooking class and local market

Visit of the local market "Pho Si", the most important one of Luang Prabang. Choice of the ingredients to prepare recipes. Then, traditional Laotian cooking class supervised by a Laotian chef. Cutting, preparing, cooking ... local dishes will no longer have secrets for you. Tasting once the cooking is complete! Then, free afternoon.
