DAY 01

Arrival in Luang Prabang

Arrival in Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Your guide will pick you up at the airport and then drop you at your hotel. Free time to rest. Welcome meeting in conference room and dinner in a restaurant.

DAY 02

Visit of Luang Prabang, its temples and markets

Cultural tour of the city by minivan with the guide: morning market, Royal Palace, Vat Mai, Vat Sene, Vat Xiengthong, Vat Visoun. Walk through the historic sector, local markets and shops. Climb up the 328 steps of Mount Phousi to admire the magnificent panorama. Visit of the night market in the main street. Welcoming Baci Ceremony and traditional dance show.

DAY 03

Hiking at the KuangSi Waterfall

At sunrise, volunteers can attend the traditional ceremony of alms giving to the monks (without guide). Then, departure by minivan on a mountain track to reach and visit a village of the Hmong ethnic group. Hike in nature for 3 hours until the spring of the impressive Kuang Si waterfalls located in the middle of the jungle. Afternoon free at the waterfall, swimming, exploring, visiting the bear sanctuary.

DAY 04

Relaxing in the idyllic setting of Nongkhiaw

On the way to the North, through rice fields, rivers and mountains. On the way, visit of villages of the Tay Dam and Khamu tribes, some of which practice handicrafts. Arrival in Nongkhiaw in the early afternoon. Small town crossed by NamOu river and located at the bottom of rocky mountains covered with jungle. Free time to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery from the terrace of your room or while having a drink in town.

DAY 05

Immersion in the villages of the NamOu Valley

Traditional wooden boat ride on the NamOu River. Visit of the weaving village named Ban SopCheme and the charming village of Muang Ngoi. Easy walk in Lao Loum country (local tribe) in the heart of beautiful landscapes combining mountains and rice fields. On the way, visit of the ThamKang cave and a small village of the Tay Ead ethnic group. You will be able to discover the daily rural life of the tribes and make unforgettable encounters.

DAY 06

Day drive to Pakbeng and its lost villages

Departure by minivan for Pakbeng via Oudomxay. This beautiful way passes through breathtaking mountain scenery and authentic Tay Lue, Kamu and Hmong ethnic villages. Arrival in Pakbeng by the end of the day. Settlement at your hotel. No matter where you are in this small town, it offers magnificent views on the Mekong. Sunset time is always a magical moment.

DAY 07

Cruise on the Mekong & caves with thousands of Buddhas

Cruise day on the Mekong in a traditional private slow boat. The river is the ideal transportation mean to be carried through mountains covered with jungles. You will be able to observe the daily life of fishermen. On the way, meeting with local rice alcohol producers, then visit of the PakOu caves that host thousands of Buddha statues.

DAY 08

Day with Elephants and Tad Sae Waterfall

Visit of the elephant camp "Elephant village camp", with the company of these huge animals. The mahouts will explain their job and their very particular relationship with the pachyderms. A bareback ride on the back of an elephant. It's a unique experience! The day continues with a small boat ride to reach the beautiful Tad Sae waterfalls with turquoise water (from August to the end of December). Free time to swim and relax.

DAY 09

Departure for Cambodia and discovery of Angkor

Free morning without guide until your transfer to the airport. Flight Luang Prabang - Siem Reap. Welcoming in Cambodia by your guide and settlement in your charming hotel, located in a nice neighbourhood. A first visit of Angkor reveals the immensity of this megacity. Visit of the mysterious Ta Prohm temple, invaded by giant trees.

DAY 10

Local encounters in the heart of rice fields

Walk on a forest path of Kbal Spean dotted with rocks, large trees and lianas to the carved bed of a "river thousand lingas". Walk down the sacred mountain of Angkor to the Banteay Srei site. Visit of the "citadel of women", known for the richness of its iconography and the extreme delicacy of its sculptures. In the afternoon, stop in a typical village and meeting with locals.

DAY 11

Angkor Wat, a marvel of architecture

On-road transfer to the site of Beng Mealea, a career where the Khmers extracted the stone for their monuments. Nearby, wooden walkways take the visitors to the heart of Beng Mealea Temple, barely clear of the jungle that imprisoned it. Then, visit of Angkor Wat, the most famous temples of Angkor. A well-studied course allows you to appreciate in a certain tranquillity of this masterpiece of Khmer architecture.

DAY 12

Boating on Tonle Sap Lake and its hilltop villages

Walk in the forest of Angkor Thom, walled city and centred on the temple of Bayon. This fascinating labyrinth of towers and shrines presents feats of arms and scenes of life. Discovery of Tonle Sap Lake. In the rainy season, the lake submerges the high-pitched habitat and semi-aquatic forest of Kompong Phluk, which can be crossed by foot during the dry season. At the end of the day, show of the circus school of the association Phare.
