DAY 01

Arrival in Luang Prabang

Arrival in Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Your guide will pick you up at the airport and then drop you at your hotel. Free time to rest. Welcome meeting in conference room and dinner in a restaurant.

DAY 02

Visit Luang Prabang, its temples and markets

Cultural tour of the city by minivan with the guide: morning market, Royal Palace, Vat Mai, Vat Sene, Vat Xiengthong, Vat Visoun. Walk through the historic sector, local markets and shops. Climb up the 328 steps of Mount Phousi to admire the magnificent panorama. Visit of the night market in the main street. Welcoming Baci Ceremony and traditional dance show.

DAY 03

Hiking at the KuangSi Waterfall

At sunrise, volunteers can attend the traditional ceremony of alms giving to the monks (without guide). Then, departure by minivan on a mountain track to reach and visit a village of the Hmong ethnic group. Hike in nature for 3 hours until the spring of the impressive Kuang Si waterfalls located in the middle of the jungle. Afternoon free at the waterfall, swimming, exploring, visiting the bear sanctuary.

DAY 04

Mekong Cruise & PakOu Caves

Cruise day on the Mekong in a traditional private slow boat. The river is dotted with large cliffs, limestone rocks in which huge caves have been dug. Visit of those of Pak Ou that host thousands statues of the Buddha. You will take the boat back to visit the village of Ban Xang Hai. There, the locals make rice alcohol that you can taste.

DAY 05

Day with Elephants & Tad Sae Waterfall

Visit of the elephant camp "Elephant village camp", with the company of these huge animals. The mahouts will explain their job and their very particular relationship with the pachyderms. A bareback ride on the back of an elephant. It's a unique experience! The day continues with a small boat ride to reach the beautiful Tad Sae waterfalls with turquoise water (from August to the end of December). Free time to swim and relax.

Activities : 30 min riding bareback on elephant + 10mn cruising

DAY 06

Landscapes of karstic mountains and local markets

On-road transfer through fabulous mountain landscapes up to 1,200 meters above sea level. On the way, visit of villages and small local markets including the vegetables one in Phoukhoune. Arrival in Vang Vieng in the afternoon and canoe trip on the Nam Song river. This small town is located in an exceptional setting between rice fields and karst mountains.

DAY 07

Departure for the capital and lunch at Nam Ngeum Lake

Discovery of Tham Chang, one of the largest caves in the region. Then, departure for Vientiane, the capital of Laos. On the way, visit of villages, local markets including one specialized in fishes and lunch stop at the beautiful Nam Ngeum lake. Discovery of a salt extraction site. Arrival in Vientiane by the end of the afternoon.

DAY 08

Cultural tour of Vientiane and its temples

Visit of the Laotian capital and its many temples: Vat Sisaket, the temple of the Emerald Buddha HoPraKeo, the famous Stupa of That Luang, the triumphal arch Patuxay and Vat Simeuang which is the most animated temple of the city. Visit of the Thongkhankham vegetable market and walk along the Mekong river by the end of the day.

DAY 09

First steps in the southern kingdom

Transfer to the airport and domestic flight to Pakse. Visit of the city and its main monuments: its local market, Vat SaLao, Vat Chomphet, Vat Luang and the banks of the Mekong.

DAY 10

Visit of the ruins of the Vat Phou Khmer temple

Boarding on a local boat and way down the Mekong to Champasak. Visit of the fabulous site of Vat Phou. This temple dated from the pre-Angkorian period, and cradle of the Khmer civilization, has been registered as World Heritage by UNESCO. Departure for Khong Island in the extreme south of Laos, in the region of 4000 islands. On the way, visit of a pre-Angkorian temple "Wat ToMo".

DAY 11

Boating within the 4000 islands & Mekong waterfalls

Traditional boat ride to the peaceful islands of DoneKhone and DoneDeth. Walk in local tuktuk or walk to the waterfalls of Lippi (or Somphamit). Canoe ride on the Mekong looking for the freshwater dolphins. Then, contemplation of the grandiose waterfalls of Khone Phapheng. Here, the Mekong is roaring and sumptuous.

DAY 12

Local encounters with tribes of the Boloven plateau

Departure for the Bolaven plateau. On the way, visit of villages of craftsmen and mask sculptors. In the afternoon, discovery of an exuberant tropical nature, the breathtaking waterfall of Tad Phaxouam and ethnic encounters. Arrival by the end of the afternoon at the lodge immersed in nature, next to a waterfall.

DAY 13

Walk in the tea and coffee fields of the Bolaven plateau

On-road transfer to Pakse via Thateng and Paksong. On the way, visit of villages of ethnic minorities of the south as well as the impressive waterfalls TadGneuang and Tad Fane (about 200m high). Walk in the tea and coffee fields. The landscapes are magnificent. Arrival in Pakse in the afternoon.
